On the surface, the band’s formation seems improbable, with vastly diverse musical tastes among its members, ranging from Pop to Jazz, Soul to Punk, Classical to Hip Hop, and of course Metal. Yet, it's this very blend of disparate influences that fuels The Stolen Moans’ genre-bending alchemy. Their repertoire spans from frenzied No Wave earworms heralding the apocalypse to glacial high-concept soundscapes, showcasing a fearless approach where no sonic territory is off-limits. However, the band is governed by one unspoken mandate - it all must unequivocally “Rock”. HISTORY TO DATE Formed late in 2018 from the remnants of previous musical endeavors, three friends united to create something fresh and collaborative. Their debut single, 'The King of Claws,' accompanied by a hand-drawn animated music video, tells the tale of an ambitious black cat with plans for world domination, setting the tone for their creative journey. The year concluded with a live show broadcast on Los Angeles' influential KXLU 88.9 FM, marking a confident finish to the band’s first few months. 2019 was a woodshed year for the band. Live shows were put on hold, to focus on songwriting, rehearsals, and recording, culminating in a fun tribute to Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy, released that December. 2020 like for many, was a year of disrupted plans and reflection. In 2021, The Stolen Moans released their first EP, 'TREES,' showcasing a furious blend of macabre feminism, floor-pounding hooks, and an all-night dance party (complete with garden gnomes). The year was rounded off with 'MORE,' a track conjuring the spirit of Dolly Parton while addressing workplace misogyny with a proto-punk twang banger. 2022 saw the Valentine’s Day release of 'FALLING INTO,' a melodically wistful single exploring the dizzying intoxication and lingering complexities of romance, followed by 'PU NUM TU,' a tribute to a beloved band mentor and friend. 2023 marked a year of accolades and powerful anthems for The Stolen Moans. Their animated music video for 'The King of Claws' garnered international acclaim, securing the Best Song award at the London Movie Awards and Best Animated Music Video at the Los Angeles Animation Festival. In the same breath, the band unveiled their most electrifying track yet, 'OUR SONG.'
