What do you do when you are overwhelmed? … you make art. The 0X is the alter ego of Utrecht (NL) based indie-pop musician/producer Bryan Hokkeling. The project began in early 2021 as a way for Hokkeling to process personal trauma. Channeling emotion into music became his method of finding hope in the unfamiliar emotional landscape in which he was lost. The self-produced debut EP “Love Is Not a Game” fuses explosive drums, 80’s synthesizers and towering string arrangements into orchestral melancholic soundscapes that retain the charm of lo-fi home-recording. “The 0X” will release his debut single “Higher” in July 2022. The track details the struggle of growing up and the longing to return to childhood. The Full-length EP “Love Is Not a Game” is set for release in late 2022. “The 0X” combines the nostalgia and heartache of adult life with the wide eyed wonder of discovery – all through the lens of Orchestral Bedroom Pop.
