Scarlet Mill are a Dutch alternative/indie band consisting of Jennifer Moesker (vocals, piano, organ, synths) and Erik Verhoef (vocals, guitar, bass and drums). Their permanent special guest is Maarten Verhoef (saxophones). This obscure duo first got together in the 1980's, but then drifted apart for a couple of decades. It took them all in all some 35 years, partly spent on various musical adventures with other musicians and bands, to finally get their act together and to release, in 2020, their first album Chronicles – a murder ballad in 7 pieces filled with songs of passion, fate and redemption. In 2022, they started working on their new album, releasing ‘Port Henry’, an up- tempo indie-glam rock song, and ‘You’re Mine’, a remix of the earlier dark chanson ‘Je suis à toi’ in a darker duet. January 2023 witnessed the release of ‘Sinking Man’, the third single: a slow paced, salty, fado-ish glamrock ballad, followed by ‘Sea Devil’, in August ’23, a menacing Bachian composition with a Parisian touch. And now number 5 sees the light: 'Driftwood' starts of the year 2024 as a genuine indie-rock song, with dark synths and gloomy guitars. Scarlet Mill loves passionate music of all sorts and genres, as long as it’s honest, pure, intense, and gets under the skin. They are thus inspired by a wide variety of artists including, in no particular order, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Damien Rice, PJ Harvey, Elliot Smith, The Pixies, Rickie Lee Jones, Tom Waits, Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley, The National and Matt Berninger solo, Calexico, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Leonard Cohen, Radiohead and Bill Fay
