Roi Soleil (Sun King) makes ‘Frenglish pop with a dash of queer glitter’. The Roi Soleil repertoires talks about (self)love, sexuality and identity and fluctuates between danceable electropop and vulnerable power ballads. Musically he's inspired by acts such as Mika, Yelle, Stromae, Troye Sivan and Lady Gaga. Roi Soleil is the superhero version of Matthijs, a small town boy with teenager trauma that he is trying to fix by putting a golden crown (made of tie-wraps) on his head. OUI, he is made of gold but he's here to let you know that everyone is. On his baroque wings he wants to enlighten his audience and will always be aiming for the Eurovision Song Contest.
