Psychotic Lumberjacks is that weird feeling of having drunk too much coffee and beer at the same time and you’re stuck in this awkward, caffeine hyped, sluggish limbo. The fusion of the old-school garage sound and a modern, dark, electronic sound, gives Psychotic Lumberjacks the vibe that makes adolescents want to yell and jump into each other. Starting off as a punk duo, the band was originally formed by drummer Chris Wassenaar and guitarist Emiel Brinkgreve; After a jam session with bass player Ate Kamsma, they felt pity for the young man and had them join the band as well. Finally the rotten, moldy cherry on top of this musical cake, was keyboardist Melvin Bemelmans, whose noise made a fine addition to the clusterfuck, now known as Psychotic Lumberjacks. Psychotic Lumberjacks’ songwriting involves a lot of coffee, mental deterioration, and an extremely fucked up sleeping schedule. This combination of factors gives the members the right mindset to produce the energetic, moshable, controlled chaos that most listeners are familiar with.
