In a room filled with smoke, arms and legs fly around at head height. The walls are wet and beads of condensation drip steadily down. The penetrating smell of sweat and dead beer slowly penetrates your nasal cavities and from behind that thick layer of smoke, a wall of sound is thrown into your face like a truck. This scene describes the ideal setting to start a new band. And so it happened. It is mid-2019 when PREY is founded in Tilburg during a punk festival that got out of hand in a skate café. Inspired by bands like the Stooges, Fugazi and The Men, the band returns to a sound that goes against the current post-punk hype. The repertoire continues to grow and a roaring machine with a raw sound full of adrenaline is the result. We are now two EPs and three singles further. Squats, theaters, pubs, England and venues such as De Effenaar, Baroeg, Patronaat, Antwerp Music City and festivals such as Roadburn (2023 + 2025) have been introduced to the uncompromising, angry, melancholic sound of PREY, which can best be described as the perfect mix of vulgarity and poetry.
