Meet Mega Ultra Turbo Snake, a powerhouse quartet from The Netherlands founded in 2010, featuring Jim Otten (guitar), Elmer Klingen (guitar, main vocals), Marco Stolker (bass guitar), and Edgar Post-Buijs (drums). The roots of this musical journey trace back to 2003 when Edgar and Jim collaborated in theClose. After their initial venture, Edgar and Jim explored diverse musical landscapes individually. Meanwhile, Elmer’s rock band Alcatrash sought a new drummer, leading to Edgar’s entry. Jim quickly followed, marking the birth of The Orkistra. From 2007 to 2009, Edgar, Jim, and Elmer crafted a unique sound in The Orkistra, releasing “Distant Shores” and gradually evolving into the heavier and more eclectic Mega Ultra Turbo Snake. Despite early success with gigs, demo recordings, and the promise of a unique sound, the band mysteriously disbanded and vanished off the face of the earth. Marco Stolker, the bass maestro, previously collaborated with Jim in Crosseyed and Banished, releasing “Sure As Hell” in 2014. The musical journey continued with Jim, Marco, and Edgar, who also played together in Goddamn Dinosaur from 2016 to 2018. Fast forward to 2022, a decade later, Edgar and Jim decided to revive Mega Ultra Turbo Snake, and Marco replaced the original bass player. A series of gigs followed, accompanied by the recording of three singles at IJland Studios in Amsterdam. “The Ant” marked their return on the last day of 2023, with “Abominable” and “Plough” slated for an early 2024 release. Influenced by various bands from the ’90s and ’00s, Mega Ultra Turbo Snake creates a heavy rock sound with obscure songwriting, adding a poppy twist. The Mega Snake abides!
