At the end of the farm track on the way to Uithoorn, Harold Pflug (vocals/guitar), Ronald van der vaart (bass/vocals) and Martin Voigt (drums vocals) compose the songs of KOLBAK. The band plays alternative rock/indie-pop, with echoes of Excelsior bands, as well as R.E.M. and Elvis Costello. Yet KOLBAK has its own sound with melodic songs that always have a subtle or a brutal twist. The lyrics echo the surprise of on some aspects of society or extol the unrelenting surrender to love. The energy they put into writing the songs is also evident during this band's live performances. The band will release a string of songs as stand alone singles in 2024. The first two are Play Time (IndieXL IndieDisc and #4) and Smoke and Mirrors (#8). The third -- I Make U -- was a spotify smash gaining 20K plus spins on Spotify. Their most recent full length album "To The Teeth" was released in August 2023. Together with producer Jan Schenk (Claw Boys Claw, Lucky Fonz III, Moss) they forged a tight sound that sounds honest and delicious. "To The Teeth" is KOLBAK's third album and is available on streaming services and through Plato/Concerto. The album includes the two IndieXL Free40 top-ten hits "Off Day" (#4) and "To The Teeth" (#7) and the meandering "Up For Air." Previously, the band self-released "Twist And Turns" (2019) and "Sea" (2016).
