INKAKAI are a masked sextet of professional musicians, songwriters and producers from Finland, United States and Japan. In place of names, the group lists symbols representing roles in their musical genre of Imperial - sharply dynamic alternative rock with nu-metal & electronic music influences. INKAKAI members have worked with Max Martin, Steve Vai and Lordi, featured in movies Priest of Evil and Jade Warrior and won the NRJ Best Nordic Song award. They released their debut album 'Burns Inside' as Bleak in 2006, regrouping in 2009 as Fireal with hooded uniforms and releasing their sophomore album 'The Dark Side' in 2011 with Warner Music Finland. Going on a break, INKAKAI stayed active on their pages, introducing their masked group concept already in 2013. They returned with 'The Smoke' single in 2019 as a masked collective, officially renamed in 2020. Their new single 'Drown' was mixed by Tim Palmer and taken from their third album-in-the-works, 'Unlite', with more singles set to follow. For 20 years, INKAKAI's black and red colour scheme has symbolized themes of fire and darkness, manifested in their new name 陰火会 (shadow, fire, assembly) that originates from Japanese legends: Inka being one of the onibi ghost lights – spirits born from corpses that have become fire. *** We Are Symbols, We Stay Concealed, Shades Our Devices.
