HAVAN is the artistic project of multi-instrumentalist Hanne Vanhyfte-Dollery. From an eclectic vision, she wants to interpret the sound of our time. "I want my music to reflect the human being: diverse, complex and fragile." She does this by exploring diverse genres and soundscapes. Also as a person, there are many diverse influences that have shaped her, just like her music she has a kaleidoscope of roots, experience and stories. Belgian born, but with international roots by having a Canadian mother she now lives in the heart of the metropolitan Brussels. At the age of 19, she released a CD to finance her trip abroad. She spent a total of 4 years in South Africa, England and Germany, among other places. The time of orientation abroad was necessary. "Sometimes you have to let go of something first to pick it up again afterwards with greater wisdom." The love for music production brought her back to Belgium to study Music Production at the Conservatory of Ghent. Although the intimate HAVAN sound has been well received with the added enthusiasm in sporadic living room concerts and cafes, The Rua Room and the Open Mic at the Depot, there was still a growing desire to be able to showcase a bigger sound that until now has been hidden behind the girl with the guitar. Since 2022, 3 singles have been released as a foretaste of the bigger sound HAVAN introduced with its debut album "Words for Who. This album is the first full-fledged musical footprint left by Hanne Vanhyfte-Dollery under the HAVAN project. The opening track 'Heaven Belongs to You' is a train of conjuring rhythms and synths that comes at you only to be followed by a warm blanket of dreamy guitars. 

"Hanne has a great voice in which we occasionally recognise some of Alanis Morissette and Joni Mitchell. Her songs are also somewhat along the lines of these Canadian singer-songwriters, equally bright and with as much variety. The only song that has a slightly different vibe is the duet Sing she recorded with RAMAN. in which we get a bluesy country vibe. It's clever how the two voices complement each other nicely."
