Dede Booth is a Boston-based multi-instrumentalist who began her career as a touring and session drummer for several rock, folk, and funk bands. In 2006, Dede taught herself guitar and keys and fronted the band Sententia, a progressive goth rock band who Prog Magazine hailed as "deeply evocative and clearly performed with a haunting passion". With 2 EPs and an LP under their belt, the stars were aligning, and it seemed Sententia were off to an astounding career, however a vocal injury left Dede unable to complete their next album. Disbanded but not disheartened, Dede became a solo artist, composing instrumental, experimental music for theater. Learning a great deal in composition from the world of theater, Dede decided to return to the progrock scene in 2017. Inspired by various forms of progressive rock, art and postrock, postpunk, and melodic metal, Dede is drawn to conceptual music and uses her interests in the existential side of life to write lyrics that are informed by nature and the human condition. Often times reflective and melancholic, Dede's music also offers a tinge of optimism. "Parallels" is the latest album from Dede. A concept album, it tells the story of The Meaning Maker, his need to find purpose, the internal crisis he faces, and the journey he embarks on as The Watcher interferes with the only life he's ever known. Fans of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and Cocteau Twins are sure to enjoy.
