Cumbia, desert film scores and exotic grooves form the foundation of Chica Chica’s vibrant sound. Born from a desire to travel, this trio takes you on a road trip back in time. Melodic bass lines, wah-wah guitars, and percussion — organic, grainy and always with a touch of melancholy. Like the analog photograph on your favorite vinyl record. Emerging onto the scene in the summer of 2022, Chica Chica quickly made their mark with a series of energetic live shows. Their debut album followed at the end of 2023, featuring the singles “Disco L’Africain” and “Year of the Dragon”, both of which found their way into regular rotation on NPO Soul & Jazz. In 2024/2025 the band performed at ESNS, played numerous summer festivals and toured across the Netherlands as part of the Popronde. Their second album ‘Mi Zafira’ will be released in October 2026.
