Blakefield is the brainchild of singer and guitarist John Blakefield (Hans Bekaert) who was born and raised in Leuven. He started playing guitar at an early age. At 16, he already performed at Rock Werchter. He joined the band Undefined as a guitarist and composer, but two full albums, a few singles with airplay on StuBru and hundreds of concerts later – after the death of their lead singer – the group dissolved. John started composing and singing songs that were more in the style where he originally found his love for music, experimenting with alternative rock and indie rock influenced by the likes of Radiohead and The Smashing Pumpkins. - Now, John finds himself supported by his new band (Bass player Bart Hens & Sven Lories on the Drums), expressing the things that lie the closest to his heart in his music and lyrics and sharing these feelings with the world in the hopes of helping listeners that are going through some of the same struggles. The band’s debut single ‘In My Arms’ is produced by Yannic Fonderie and will be released on the 28th of October 2022.
