I have always been attracted to melancholy. I wouldn't necessarily describe myself as pessimistic as a person, but as a musician I like to find myself in the darker realms. Imperfection. The Bane Grams is about imperfection and being unsuccessful in a life where nothing has really turned out as expected or imagined. It is not necessarily a negative retrospective, as it is also about hope and acceptance. Acceptance of everything that comes your way, that you have to digest in order to move on. Life can be darkness, which we all face to some extent. It is the baggage we just carry with us. Which belongs to ourselves and no one else. Often invisible to others, but always palpable to ourselves. It shapes us into who we are. Unsolicited and sometimes unwanted. I spent four years writing this album and letting it slowly emerge. Several times I thought it was finished and that I wanted to move on to new work, but something kept coming along that could take it to the next level. While producing this album, I grew and formed as a songwriter and artist. The last step were the days, when I had to come up with the final info for mastering the songs. Song titles, album title and artist name. To my mind, I had to detach myself from myself, who I have known all my life as a creator.
